Badoo vs Miragano: an honest, sourced comparison
Both are swipe dating apps. The difference is in the defaults: on Miragano, photo verification is required for everyone before they appear in Discover, everyone states what they're looking for, and every safety tool is free. Badoo is far more established and has features of its own. Every fact about Badoo below comes from its own website, with a link, checked on 1 October 2026.
Badoo and Miragano side by side
| Feature | Badoo | Miragano |
|---|---|---|
| Profile verification | Photo verification with a live photo, not one from your gallery.Source: badoo.com | Required for everyone before they appear in Discover: a live selfie copying a random pose, matched to profile photos, with a person reviewing when the automatic check is unsure. Not an ID check. |
| Say what you're looking for | Here to date, ready for a relationship or open to chat, shown on the profile.Source: badoo.com | Everyone picks an intent, and Discover only shows compatible intents. |
| Report a member | Block and report from the chat screen.Source: badoo.com | Report from any chat, reviewed by people. Underage and safety concerns are urgent. |
| Block or unmatch | Block, and unmatch so the other person can no longer find or message you.Source: badoo.com | Block is instant, ends the match and hides both people from each other. |
Facts about Badoo were checked on 1 October 2026 on Badoo's official pages, linked in each row. We only list what we could confirm there; a feature missing from this table may still exist. Apps change often: if something is out of date, email hello@miragano.com and we will correct it. Miragano's column describes the product as it is built today.
Who each app suits
Badoo
Badoo suits people who want a long-running app that lets you say whether you're here to date, ready for a relationship or open to chat, with photo verification by live photo and a safety centre with guides and helplines.
Miragano
Miragano suits people who want to know that everyone they see is a real person who matches their photos, who want intent up front so they only see compatible people, and who want help going from a match to an actual date. It is newer and opening early access city by city, so there will be fewer people on it than on Badoo for now.
Looking for a Badoo alternative?
If you are looking for a Badoo alternative because you want more certainty that people are real, Miragano makes photo verification a requirement rather than an option. If you want to skip mismatched expectations, intent is required too, and Discover only shows compatible intents. And on Miragano, verification, reporting, blocking, Safe Date Check-in and emergency information are never part of a paid plan. Badoo vs Miragano: questions people ask
Is Miragano a good Badoo alternative?
It can be, depending on what you want. Miragano is a swipe-first app like many others, but every member must be photo verified before they appear in Discover, everyone states what they're looking for, and the app is built to get you from a match to a real date. Safety tools are free for everyone. If those things matter most to you, it is worth trying alongside or instead of Badoo. If you rely on features only Badoo has, it may make sense to keep using it too. Many people use more than one app.
What is the main difference between Badoo and Miragano?
The main difference is that on Miragano photo verification is required, not optional: nobody appears in Discover until they have taken a live selfie copying a random pose that matches their profile photos. Every member also picks an intent, and Discover only shows people whose intent is compatible with yours. Badoo has its own way to show this: here to date, ready for a relationship or open to chat, shown on the profile. Miragano is newer and opening early access city by city, so Badoo is far more established. The comparison table on this page lists only facts we could confirm from Badoo's own pages, each with a source.
Is Miragano free?
Yes. Miragano is free to join and free to date on. Free members get 25 likes a day, resetting at local midnight, plus bonus likes on each day of a streak, and can message every match. Optional paid plans add extras such as unlimited likes and seeing who likes you; they open with the app store launch. Photo verification, reporting, blocking, Safe Date Check-in and emergency information are never part of a paid plan, because safety should never be a premium feature. Cancelling a paid plan will be one tap.
How did you check the facts about Badoo?
We only used Badoo's own website, safety centre and help pages, read on 1 October 2026. Every row in the table links to the page it came from. If we could not confirm something from an official page, we left it out rather than guess, so a missing row means we did not find it, not that Badoo lacks it. Apps change often. If something here is out of date, email hello@miragano.com and we will check it and correct the page.
Can I use Miragano and Badoo at the same time?
Yes. Nothing stops you using both, and plenty of people try more than one app. On Miragano you would need to be photo verified before you appear in Discover, and you choose an intent, an age range, who you want to meet and a search radius from 5 to 200 km. Miragano is opening early access in waves, city by city, through a free waitlist; when your invite arrives you join through the web app at app.miragano.com, as the iOS and Android apps are not in the app stores yet.
